• Meeting Jesus

In the beginning of time God created our world and everything that exists. He created mankind to fellowship with Him and live forever with Him. Satan brought sin into God's perfect world by causing man to mistrust God. When sin entered into the heart of man, his spirit died, and eventually his body. God had to make a way to redeem His beloved creation from the effects of sin in their lives. No man could be found worthy since the sin nature now flowed through every one on earth. God loves us so much that He sent His perfect, sinless Son, Jesus the Christ to give Himself as our payment to redeem us from the effects of sin and once more make a bridge from earth to Himself, so we could once again fellowship with Him and live forever.

• What Is Prayer

Prayer Is Recognizing Our Dependence Upon God

J. I. Packer wrote in his book, Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God:

“The prayer of a Christian is not an attempt to force God’s hand, but a humble acknowledgment of helplessness and dependence.  When we are on our knees, we know that it is not we who control the world; it is not in our power, therefore, to supply our needs by our own independent efforts; every good thing that we desire for ourselves and others must be sought from God, and will come, if it comes at all, as a gift from His hands.”

By praying, we recognize three things:

     1.  Our helplessness and dependence on Him.

     2.  That we are not in control of our lives.

     3.  We must seek God for every good thing we desire for ourselves and

          others.

All to often our level of trust in God depends on our ability to anticipate or foresee the way in which He might answer our prayers, rather than in our belief and trust in His Power. We pray, but if we were really honest with ourselves and with God, if we had the courage to express our thoughts out loud, they might come out something like this:

"You know, Lord, this is just a long shot. I don’t see

how You can possibly do this or pull this off, but I’m

going to pray for it and just see if something happens.”

Our prayers should be both an acknowledgment of our own helplessness with out Him and our dependence upon Him. Our prayers should be an expression of our confidence that God can meet our needs in ways we could never anticipate or foresee.

As you turn to this page you will discover the some of the reasons why prayer can often be difficult and unfulfilling.

Can I Pray The Prayer God Will Hear Every Time?

Prayer is the outpouring of our hearts. Prayer is powerful communication with God. “How am I supposed to pray?” By praying His Word, God’s Word, as we search it out covers every area of our lives:

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)

“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

The promise of The LORD is His Word cannot return void. Therefore, it only makes sense for us to pray the Word of God, for His Word is always His will for our lives.

Psalms 103:20 (KJV)

“Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.”

As we pray His Word, we become that voice that the angels hearken or listen to.

Using as examples the King James and Amplified versions of the Bible, let us explore how to take God’s Word and turn it into an effective prayer life.
